Mysuru postal division in Karnataka gets integrated system for services

CUSTOMERS CAN AVAIL THEMSELVES OF ANY SERVICE FROM ANY COUNTER

Mysuru is all set to become the first postal division in the country to adopt a common system for various postal services, integrating all software solutions introduced under a core banking network.

From Thursday, customers need not wait at a particular counter for a particular service, as every counter will be able to provide all the services available at the post office.

A team of professionals from Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) on Wednesday took up the task of integrating the solutions into a common system. Postal services across the division, covering 65 post offices and 202 branches, remained suspended to facilitate the work.

The team, with the support from the Department of Posts, spent over six months to accomplish the task.

Shivaiah, Senior Superintendent of Post Offices, Mysuru division told The Hindu that Mysuru was selected for the pilot project considering previous ‘models’ successfully introduced here, for improving customer service.

“The integration work is underway and the common system will be ready for operations from Thursday. With this, Mysuru division will become the first postal division in the country to introduce this improved service,” he said.

Barring Nanjangud and T. Narsipur (which are part of Chamarajnagar postal division), the remaining taluks in the district – Mysuru city, Mysuru taluk, K R Nagar, H D Kote, Periyapatna, and Hunsur – come under Mysuru division.

Mr. Shivaiah said software had been developed for various services such as postal life insurance, postal savings account, recurring deposits and so on. Recently, core banking system had been introduced for the convenience of customers.

The officer said customers sometimes had to wait for their turn to avail services at a particular counter even though the next counter was free. However, with the integration of various software solutions and bringing them under a unified system, customers can avail any postal service from any counter, he explained.

Importantly, customers will get delivery status of their posts or parcels on their mobile phones or can track status online. All data will be stored at the central server in Mumbai.

After the integration of software solutions, the company professionals would provide post-implementation service, assisting the employees to trouble shoot any problem, Mr. Shivaiah added.

Mysuru division can become a model for other postal divisions across the country for replicating the common customer service system in the coming months.

Bonus Hike : Good news expected soon - Reportedly Election Commission given its nod

As per reliable sources, Election Commission has given it’s nod for issuing ordinance on “Payment of Bonus Act”.

Now the matter will go to Cabinet and after it’s approval, necessary ordinance will be notified soon.

Earlier the Government decided to raise the ceiling of Rs 3500/- per month to Rs 10,000/- per month. From this year, the ceiling is going to be increased to as high as Rs 10,000 per month. In a letter from Secretary, Ministry of Labour and Employment, Mr S. Agarwal conveyed this  news to one of the 11 Central Trade Unions during 2nd Sep. 2015 one day Nation wide strike.

BONUS ACT AMENDMENT - A REVIEW

THE PAYMENT OF BONUS ACT, 1965

         The Payment of Bonus Act, 1965 provides for the payment of bonus to persons employed in certain establishments, employing 20 or more persons, on the basis of profits or on the basis of production or productivity and matters connected therewith. 

        The minimum bonus of 8.33% is payable by every industry and establishment under section 10 of the Act. The maximum bonus including productivity linked bonus that can be paid in any accounting year shall not exceed 20% of the salary/wage of an employee under the section 31 A of the Act.

          Details of amendments to  the Payment of Bonus Act, 1965:

The last amendment of 2007 was notified on 13 December 2007 and made effective

·        The minimum bonus of 8.33% of (Rs. 3500/- X 12= Rs. 42,000/-) is approximately Rs. 3500/-. 

·        The 20% of above referred Rs. 42,000/- is Rs. 8,400/-.  However, the limit is given as Rs. 8,300/-. 

·        The clause (vi) of Section 32 of the Act has also been omitted to bring employees employed through contractors on building operations within the ambit of the Act.

Release of additional instalment of Dearness Allowance to Central Government employees and Dearness Relief to Pensioners due from 1.7.2015

The Union Cabinet, chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has approved release of an additional instalment of Dearness Allowance (DA) to Central Government employees and Dearness Relief (DR) to Pensioners w.e.f. 01.07.2015. This represents an increase of 6 percent over the existing rate of 113 percent of the Basic Pay/Pension, to compensate for price rise.    This will benefit about 50 lakh Government employees and 56 lakh pensioners.         The increase is in accordance with the accepted formula, which is based on the recommendations of the 6th Central Pay Commission (CPC). The combined impact on the exchequer on account of both Dearness Allowance and Dearness Relief would be in the order of Rs. 6655.14 crore per annum and Rs.4436.76 crore in the financial year 2015-16 (for a period of 8 months from July, 2015 to February, 2016).

கடந்த செப்டம்பர் திங்கள் 4,5,6 மற்றும் 7 , 2015 தேதிகளில் புதுகை நகரில் நம்முடைய அஞ்சல் மூன்று சங்கத்தின்  37 ஆவது தமிழ் மாநில மாநாடு சீரும் சிறப்புமாக நடைபெற்றது உங்களுக்குத் தெரியும்.  மாநாட்டிற்கு பல சிறப்புகள் உண்டு . 

முதன் முதலாக குளிரூட்டப்பட்ட அரங்கு,  குளிரூட்டப்பட்ட  இரவு தங்கும் அரங்கு  ஏற்பாடு செய்யப்பட்டது தமிழக அஞ்சல் தொழிற்சங்க வரலாற் றில் இதுவே முதல் முறையாகும். 

நீண்ட காலங்களுக்குப் பிறகு (அநேகமாக 1980 க்குப் பிறகு எனலாம் ) தமிழகத்தின்   CHIEF  PMG  கலந்துகொண்டு  கருத்தரங்கில் உரையாற்றியது மட்டுமல்லாமல் , சார்பாளர்களின்  கேள்விகள் அனைத்திற்கும் நம்முடைய தொழிற்சங்க பயிற்சி வகுப்புகளில் நாம் செய்வது போல , அவர் பொறுமையாக பதில் அளித்ததும் இதுவே  முதல் முறையாகும்.  மத்திய மண்டல  PMG அவர்களும் கருத்தரங்கில்  கலந்து கொண்டு உரையாற்றினார். இது  சிறப்பான அரங்காக அமைந்தது.
